2025–2026 Low- Income Elderly Discount Program APPROVED

On September 23rd, the Klickitat PUD Commissioners approved the Low-Income Elderly Discount program which will run from December 2025 through May 2026.

The 2025 program assisted 387 Klickitat PUD residential customers, 62 year of age or older.  Customers received approximately $60,000 in direct bill discounts.  To qualify, total annual household income for a single person must be $51,000 or less, or a 2‑person household income of $58,000 or less.  Discounts available include a basic fee credit or the basic fee credit plus a 15% discount to energy usage.  Below is a chart that identifies the income thresholds associated with each discount level.

Klickitat County Senior Services (KCSS) qualifies KPUD customers for the Low-Income Elderly Discount program and has been a steadfast partner to the utility for years.  This year KCSS, Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP) and Klickitat PUD are hosting five community enrollment events throughout the county to bring all senior low-income assistance opportunities together and provide one-stop assistance opportunities.  Plan on attending one to get enrolled early.  Make sure to being proof of age and income, please reach out if you have questions.  If you are unable to attend, resources are still available. Just contact KCSS and WAGAP directly to make an appointment.

Klickitat PUD is conducting a survey to identify customer preferences for energy burden reduction programs like Low-Income Elderly Discounts.  Recommendations will be assessed for future program development.  Please take the time to complete the survey, which is available on our website through October.
